Norm MacDonald - Based on a True Story: A Memoir

A fun book to listen to (especially considering it was narrated by Norm himself). While it was quite unstructured and rambling at times, Norm's narration was entertaining. Personally, I'm a fan of his dry humour, but it's not for everyone. The book itself was dragging at times (and there's a few "meta" jokes about it towards the end, he poked fun at the word-count requirement from agents) and it lacked a captivating plot; I mean, the plot was playful and felt more like an acid drip or something, idk (note: mom, if you're reading this, I didn't do acid, I just read about it). I did enjoy the second half of the book more, where his ghost writer became a character of the book himself — some fun layers of irony and self-deprecating jokes.

All in all, I'd recommend it, especially if you're a fan, just don't expect any memorable "literature", it's more like an improv / comedy routine / dry jokes within stories. It does make fun of the whole "based on a true story" genre as you'd expect from someone like him.
